Last Sunday, I did something crazy. I ran around the block. Twice! Without Stopping. Chris used to call them runruns when Daddy would go on a run. Now I'm the one going on runruns! While in Texas I didn't run, and had fallen a bit behind. I was supposed to do a 20 minute run while I was there, and didn't. And just kept plugging along with Week 6, which was a run 5, then 8, then 5 with 3 min walks in between on Tuesday, and two 10 min walks with only 3 min walk between on Thursday. It was time to get serious with a 22 minute run. So, Sunday morning, while the weather was cool. I went forth. I walked down to my friend Ashley's house and ran from there all the way around my block which is about a mile, TWICE, without stopping. Amazing! That's 2 miles Baby!
This week's runs so far have both been 25 minute runs, and they equal about 2 miles for me also. I have the lofty goal of being able to run a full 5K in a few weeks, this is the first time I think I might actually make it!
I had been off the running wagon for months, and hadn't gone this far in a while, but doing this made me really feel like I had accomplished something. Not just feel like it, by gum, I did! Being able to run that far for a solid amount of time for me is Serious! And if you ever wondered if you're "not built for running" I suggest you give it a try. It's amazing what your body will do when you push it. God does not make crap.
