For once, we had nothing on the docket today...except for Family Flu Shots.
Eric had worked late, he got called into work yesterday afternoon, and worked from 2-4 a.m. He stayed with us this morning, for all of us to go get our flu shots. Chris is going to be getting the H1N1 flu shot at school, but we got the regular all together. Last time it was Sam that screamed his head off about shots, but last fall when Chris and I got shots, he was really brave, this time as soon as we all started bearing arms, Chris started flipping out. He turned shades of purple. Good times.
Anyway, last night when I was going a little stir crazy being inside with the boys, I called a friend of mine, who had, as it turns out been equally ditched by her husband with the girls. I went. Bringing beverages. However, as I was driving around the back of Eagle Creek Park, my breathe was taken by the beauty of the trees. They must be at near peak of color change, and it was lovely! That same friend gave us a CD and on it is a song, the chorus goes, Under a Shady Tree, You and Me. Chris asks for it by calling it My Tree Song. From his first picnic under a shady tree when he was 5 months old, my boy loves nothing more than to hang out under a shady tree.
I decided that the boys and I were going to go outside and play today. I wanted Chris to be able to play outside, and run wild. He doesn't get to do that much, he's in school, or stuck at home with me. So after Shots, we had brunch with Daddy, then dropped him off, and drove to a picnic spot around back of the park, and I let the boys out, and Chris and I played Red Light/Green Light, and we 'raced' around the circular drive. He climbed rocks, picked flowers, and jumped in the leaves. If we don't get another chance to do that again this fall, I'll still feel like it was a perfectly good fall day. And we were only outside less than an hour.
Then Chris wanted to see his Bin, so we did. We split up kids, Chris and Bryn went with Amy to do some shopping, and I took Shay and Sam to Hobby Lobby on the prowl for supplies for Halloween Costumes which I failed to find. But Holy Cow! By mixing and matching both of us were SO much speedier, because all children involved behaved Swimmingly! So then we met for lunch at Roscoe's Tacos. My new favorite mexican place, but that is a post in and of itself. Came home, crashed for naps and then on to Kindermusik, baths and bed. My goodness! It was a crazy yet awesome day.
Here's some snaps of the boys from our outdoor play session by the trees.
I never saw a better Big Brother that Chris. He LOVES Sam so much!

Ok, so those look like professional photos! Especially the close up of Chris with Sam on his lap....just beautiful!
These (and the ones in Chris's blog) look so great! I'm definitely up for a Fall Fun playdate whenever I return to town. And Chris was so good for me the other day, and Bryn so happy to have him- we are glad to steal him any time!
