First Day of Summer Vacation!

Well, it's officially Summer Vacation around here.

Friday night, my boys got their official summer haircuts, after we picked up Eric from the airport.  He was visiting his Grandpa on a spur of the moment trip, as Grandpa Chambers had decided to stop his dialysis.  He passed away in the wee hours of Saturday morning.  We had already made plans to Celebrate the beginning of summer with our friends the Julius family, as we had the last couple years.  Even being sad about  the loss of Grandpa, we still wanted to play.  In fact, I think by still celebrating, it was better for us.

It was rainy.  It had been raining the better part of the last three days, and was still drizzling when we pulled up to where we'd planned on meeting to play Putt-Putt, just as we had last year.  Unfortunately, the putt putt place was closed due to being too sloshy.

That was OK, we had a Wonderful Back-up plan.  The putt-putt place we chose is connected to a bowling alley.  So Bowling it was.

Happy First Day of Summer Vacation Sweetboys!

The boys are modeling their "summer shirts" that our friend Melissa them...and she got Jake a pretty too.

Jacob and I did not feel like bowling.  So this was the Willman Team.
Don't you just Love those stylish shoes?

Our worthy opponets Kathleen, Kristin and Emily.  Sarah and Mike opted to sit out too.

Chris picked a blue ball, his favorite color for the right now, and bowled it like a champ.

Sam needed a bit more help bowling, so Mike rustled up this shoot.  Eric helped line it up for Sam, and Sam got 8 pins his first roll.  Nice!  That shoot thing was really helpful for getting the little ones to bowl.  Combined with the bumpers in the lane, the little ones had it Easy.  Not like bowling back in my day.... uphill both ways in the snow in stinky shoes in places that reeked of smoke.  This place didn't stink at all, it was great!

Jacob was OK just hanging out in his new first day of summer shirt too.

Our bowling crew.

Godfather to be Mike takes a snuggle break with Jacob.

Then Godsister to be Emily took a break from bowling to hold him for a bit too.

After bowling, we only bowled one game, we went to lunch at one of my favorite places, E. 96th St. Steakburgers.  They make a mighty fine cheeseburger, almost like In & Out burger back in L.A.  While we waited for our food, the big kids played and Jake slept.  It was perfectly lovely.   Christopher was thrilled, his favorite meal right now is cheeseburgers and fries.  Sam ate a grilled cheese.  They have a monster style almost like In & Out, and their food is really quite good. We don't get up there very often, and the ambience is friendly enough that our special brand of crazy doesn't bother people too much, so it's a good treat.  Good Food, Good Company.  It's just the way we like to celebrate vacations.

Even with the rain, we had a ton of fun, and it was a perfectly relaxing start to summer!
