The Tongue

He just might be my son. My Dad sticks his tongue out a little bit when he's hard at work on something. Or at least, he used to. Anymore, we're all laughing and giggling at boys. But in the 6th grade he took a picture of me playing the cello, and I was sticking my tongue out, and focusing real hard on my music.
It charmed me to no end to see Christopher do the same thing yesterday when he was doing his homework.

The Christopher Column

Christopher caught me working on the computer early Sunday morning. He told me he wanted to write a story on his "balog". OK so I let him have a seat. And what resulted was probably the highlight of this geeky blogger's day. He called it the Christopher Column, but he spelled it com. Stinky adorable.

I got the wildest call last week. My friend Maija, who lives in Germany was on vacation in Florida, and she was taking a road trip to see her family in Vermont, and wanted to drive through Indy "on the way". Because Indy is on the way to Vermont.
You Betcha! Luckily, we had a pretty open weekend, so she came over. She was one of my bridesmaids, a friend since high school, and I haven't seen her since I was pregnant with Christopher.
So my friend Maija came over to play and have lunch.
When she arrived, the boys went bonkers, and played hide without the seeker under blankets. Luckily, Maija loves kids, and she was particularly enchanting with mine. She even got Sam to smile when he wanted to bury his head in my shoulder because it was Far past naptime.
Christopher enchanted her, then again, it's his specialty.
It was a wonderful visit. We didn't exactly get all caught up entirely, but she and her beaux Bill will be moving to the states, Destin FL specifically, in the fall. Happy Happy Day!
Maybe we won't go as long between visits when she's living this side of the pond.

Christopher got to wear the costume of his favorite book to school yesterday. He stood there asking me as I took this, "Mommy, are you going to put this on my balog?" Yes, dear I am. Eric and I have been talking about the future of the kids blogs. Someday soon, I think Chris is going to be making his own blogs, and some stuff they might not want out there, so we're considering locking them down, password protecting them. Not mine, I don't care what's out there, but the boys, perhaps. Any of you have thoughts?
Oh, back to the subject of the pictures at hand. So, Christopher can read Green Eggs and Ham in its entirety, so we did that this week, in honor of the occasion.
Say! In the dark? Here in the Dark? Would you, Could you in the dark?
Personally, I've had green eggs and ham, and it's not too shabby, but I wouldn't want it every day. I suppose we should have done that today for breakfast, but we didn't. Funny, how I never realized Dr. Seuss birthday was 'A Thing' until I had elementary school children. When Chris was younger, I thought, well, that's an obscure thing to celebrate. But now, I love Dr. Seuss. His books are magic to the young reader. The rhymes, the poetry, he was a bloody genius! I get it. AND I just love being to recycle Halloween costumes! These may stay with us for a while.

It is true. Dr. Seuss is wonderful. Today our library had an event, and we went, Sam dressed up, the Julius twins met us, and we listened to some stories. They did a craft, but our little crew could've cared less. We were the only ones to dress up for the occasion, and we had a great time. I am just so Blessed.
