A special date

107/365

What a great day!  After the big kids went off to school, I had a special date.  A date with my Dad.  He retired last week, and he called me up and asked me on a date, to go see the Ansel Adams exhibit at the Eiteljorg.
Imagine that, a date with my Daddy!   I racked my brain all morning the last time my Dad and I went somewhere alone... I came up with, we met for coffee a few times while I was working at the Health Department.  Besides that, maybe while I was in college?   Yes, I'm not including Jacob in this date, because I knew he could have cared less about Ansel Adams.  But my Dad and I were totally excited.  In fact, I was so excited about this exhibit coming, Kathleen and I were already scheming to go, but Daddy beat us to it.  So he came out to get Jake and I and we all came downtown, the weather was pretty but windy. We went to the Eiteljorg, and had lunch at this new place, the Colts grill.
And the exhibit was so cool. Ansel Adams had Mad Skillz!  Now I have taken some good pictures, heck, I have even taken some shots of the same places he did, and in comparison, my stuff is crap.  But I watched a nifty video, of Ansel Adams taking a lot of time, really planning every single picture, and I want to do that.  His stuff was real art.
I want to go back (without a semi-whiny baby) and see it all again. And really digest it.
Jake got fussy a bit, and was a bit disruotive. But I remember taking Chris to IMA when he was that age, and Jake wasn't as bad as that trip. Daddy and I had fun. We.

I had to take a cheesy photo of the occasion, just like Pa.
