Entertaining

  It's true.
I entertained.  I even set the table.  :)

Last week, I had our Bam! group over to play. It was the first time I had company of more than one person in months.  And by that I mean of more than one person, and I also exclude people not related.  This is Huge!  I have felt so crappy for so long, I haven't wanted to cook, I haven't felt like cleaning.  But on this day, I feel like after 9 months down, I'm beginning to get a bit back to normal.  I even got a little crazy and broke out the china.  I don't use it very often with the yahoos around.  But since our crew was Butler friends with recently born children, the oldest of whom is only 1, there wasn't much of a chance in anyone breaking anything.  So once I broke out the teacups for our coffee drinking, then came saucers and plates too.  I put some costco quiche cups in, they are a great little brunch treat.  And made coffee.  And I even made some raspberry hot cocoa in the cocoa maker.  The weather was a little brisk, in the high 50s when we woke up.  That's close enough to cocoa weather isn't it?!    And then for something a bit less sugary I threw some greek yogurt in a bowl, topped with fresh blueberries and drizzled honey on top.  I had to refrain myself from eating all of that before everyone got there.  Let alone having the willpower to not just take the bowl and eat the whole thing.  I love honey, greek yogurt and fresh blueberries, it's like a trinity of fresh food happiness. I will just eat that for lunch some days.  So yummy!

Kathleen made me take the picture of the set table.  I suppose since it was a nearly historic occasion, my first social gathering since being ill.  This recovery thing is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.  It will be so nice to get back to a full normal.  Considering I didn't have much strength for extreme preparations, I think it was well done.  It felt fancy.   And it felt good to get a little fancy.

Jake's friend Josie even gave the high chair a test run while we snacked.  The rest of us juggled babies, so I didn't get many pictures. She had a great time with the spinny thing, more than Jake even enjoys it.   Now if only we can get Jake to enjoy it!   Well, he did enjoy his first round of Bananas later that evening. :)
