No More Excuses

215/366

I ran.  (I ran so far away)  Except that I didn't run far.  I hopped on the treadmill.  I don't think I've gotten on the treadmill since January, maybe February.  Got to confess, I hate the treadmill.  Ours was a handmedown and I suspect the tracking is off, and the speeds feel funny compared to treadmills at the gyms that I have sampled.  It's also on an incline, so even when you are at 0, I'm going uphill.  Such that 5 minute run on the treadmill KILLED me last winter.  And made me disinclined to get on again.

But I sent my first born off to his first day of first grade today.  He was so brave and strong, like going back to school is old hat.  I decided I needed to get my butt in gear.  Chris is such an inspiration to me, and it's time for me to be equally brave and strong instead of just wallowing and getting fatter.  I weighed 230 last week, let's see if I can get my booty in gear, and shrink it!  Time to get serious.   I did laundry, and I got on the treadmill.  Sam was hysterical, started out he was watching Umizoomi, then he followed me downstairs where he hopped on the trampoline right next to me for about 2 minutes.   That was refreshing to have a bit of sweet company.  I really dislike running alone, probably a major factor in my falling off the wagon so often.  Well, that and Starbucks, and carbs of any kind really.  Then he decided he was done exercising, but he still needed to stretch out when I did.  It felt good to have him join me in this good habit.

I did Day 2 of Week 1 of the Couch25K today, and since the measurement is all off on the treadmill, I'm calling it 2 miles because I was sweating buckets like I did when Kathleen and I ran/walked on Tuesday.  Kathleen and I have been slowly tapering down until we really needed to start entirely all over again.  Which we did.  It is gross to run outside when it's 90 in the evenings, but the other night, it was in the mid-80s, a bit more bearable.  And in my nice cool basement this morning, I tell you what, I got a good workout.  And I did enough laundry that the floor is clear and I can see my bed.

My goal:  I'm going to Run the entire Ovarian Cancer run/walk at the end of September.

I've 9 weeks to get my buns in gear.  No more excuses, it's time once again to take charge of my health.
